Comparative Analysis of Mongolian and Chinese Myths of the Shooter on the Sun

Abstract

This article analyzes, through a comparative examination of Mongolian and Chinese myths, the motif of multiple suns rising on the Earth and a skilled archer who shoots them one by one, leaving only a single sun. The article aims is to compare the motif of the defeat of the sun in Mongolian and Chinese (Han) myths, identifying shared features and divergences while elucidating its historical development.The researcher concludes that the myth of victory over the scorching heat of the sun developed from a more general idea of an excessive number of suns, which is also found among many ethnic groups around the world, but it has been shown that this motif is particularly prevalent in the East, Southeast Asia and South America. A review of the research makes it clear that there are no comparative studies of these motifs in Mongolian-Chinese mythology. Therefore, the author sets himself the goal of initiating a comparative study on this topic. The Mongolian and Chinese mythological motifs of the sun archer are similar. However, both peoples have developed and refined their own unique ways of mythical thinking and cultural environment with artistic colours.

Монгол болон хятадын домгийн “нар харвасан тухай” мотивын харьцуулсан судалгаа

Хураангуй: Өгүүлэлд ертөнцөд олон нар мандсан болон нэгэн мэргэн харваач тэднийг ээлж дараалан устгасаар нэг нартай үлдсэн тухай домгийн мотивыг Монгол, Хятадын домгийг харьцуулах маягаар задлан шинжилсэн байна. Чингэхдээ нарыг харвасан тухай мотивыг Монгол Хятадын Хан үндэстний домгийн ижил ба ялгаатай талыг тодруулж, түүний хувьслын асуудлыг тодруулахыг зорьсон байна.
Олон нарыг нум сумаар харвасан тухай мотивын бүртгэл судалгаанд тулгуурлан дэлхийн олон үндэстэн угсаатанд олон нар зэрэг мандаж, түүнийг мэргэн харваач харвасан тухай мотив өргөн дэлгэр боловч Зүүн, Зүүн өмнөд Ази, Өмнөд Америкийн газар нутгийг хамарсан зураглал гарч байгааг өгүүлжээ. Судалгааны тоймоос харвал Монгол-Хятадын нарны домгийн энэхүү мотивыг харьцуулсан тухайлсан судалгаа байхгүй байгаа тул эхлүүлэх зорилго тавьжээ. Монгол болон Хятадын домогт олон нар мандахад, мэргэн харваач гарч ирж нэг нарыг нь үлдээн бусдыг харваж устгасан мотив үндсэндээ ижил боловч хоёр үндэстний домгийн сэтгэлгээ, соёлын орчиндоо өвөрмөц маягаар тус тусдаа уран сайхнаар боловсруулсан гэдгийг өгүүлсэн байна.
