Possiblities on studying ethnic songs from theoretical and methodological aspects

Abstract

The Mongolian nation unites many ethnic groups with their unique songs and music. It is natural to analyse them in terms of musicological theory, but it is suggested to study them from the perspective of oral literature. The authors conducted a two-phase expedition to the lands of Uzemchi people living in the regions of Inner Mongolia and China in 2020 and 2023-2024, using the method of field analysis of oral literature. They met and made observations, interviewed and questionnaires about 50 people who know and sing the long song ‘Uzemchin’, will conduct oral reading. The author presents a scheme based on the accounting and distribution of Uzemchin and especially their folk broach songs by the method of folklore card index.
