Peer Review Process

JASE-A  follows the double-blinded review process, which means that both the identity of the reviewer and the author are hidden from the reviewers throughout the review process and vice versa. All submitted manuscripts undergo intensive peer review in consultation with members of the journal’s editorial board and independent external reviewers (usually 2-3 reviewers).

Reviewers are asked to evaluate a manuscript according to the following criteria:

  • Relevance to the aim and scope of the journal;
  • Originality, novelty and applicability;
  • Scientific approach;
  • Relative importance;
  • Appropriateness of methodology, analysis, and interpretation;
  • Adequacy of figures, tables, and references;
  • English presentation and scientific writing;
  • Discussion and conclusions relevant to outcome and content of manuscript;

Initial Review

All submitted manuscripts received in the Editorial Board will be checked by technical editor to determine whether they are properly prepared and whether they follow the ethical policies of the journal. Manuscripts that do not meet the standards of the journal or do not fit the journal's ethics policy will be rejected before peer-review. Manuscripts that are not properly prepared will be returned to the authors for revision and resubmission. After these reviews, the technical editor will consult the journal Editor-in-Chief to determine whether the manuscript fits within the journal’s framework and whether it is scientifically sound. Rejection decisions at this stage will be verified by the Editor-in-Chief.

Peer-Review

If a manuscript passes the initial review, the technical editor sends the article to at least two reviewers. If the results of one reviewer are negative and those of the other are positive, the editor may send the article to third reviewer or immediately forward it to the Editor-in-Chief for acceptance or rejection the article.

The reviewer’s reports with a decision from the Editor-in-Chief will be returned to the authors as soon as possible, but please be patient as the review process can take up to 3-4 weeks.

After the review, the Editor-in-Chief will make a decision: reject, accept, or revise. Revisions may be major or minor. If a decision to revise is made, authors are asked to make their revisions as soon as possible (up to 3 weeks). Depending on the extent of the revision, the revised articles may be sent for editing. The final decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief of JASE-A.

The average duration of manuscript editing from submission to final decision is 9-10 weeks.
