Author Guidelines

Preparation of the Manuscript

General Requirements

Manuscripts submitted to the journal must be original research works that have not been previously published and are not under consideration for publication in any other journal.

When submitting a manuscript, authors must confirm that:

  • The manuscript (or any version of it) has not been submitted to another journal and is not currently under review elsewhere.
  • The manuscript will not be submitted to another journal until the peer-review process of the Otgontenger Journal (OTU-J) has been completed.
  • All authors have agreed to the submission of the manuscript (email addresses of all authors must be provided).
  • The corresponding author’s email address and ORCID ID must be provided.

The manuscript must be written clearly and coherently in Mongolian. The title, abstract, and keywords must be provided in both Mongolian and English. Either American or British English may be used, but they must not be mixed.

NOTE: A manuscript may be rejected at the editorial stage without peer review if it does not meet the journal’s quality requirements, falls outside the scientific aims and scope of the journal, or contains evidence of scientific misconduct or fraud.

Text File Format

Manuscripts must be submitted as Microsoft Word documents (.doc or .docx). The entire manuscript, including the abstract, experimental section, results and discussion, references, and footnotes, must be formatted as single-column text with 1.5 line spacing.

The document must be typed in Times New Roman, 12 pt, regular font, fully justified, and in standard format. Words that should appear in italics must be italicised. Do not use the Tab key to indent blocks of text such as quotations or lists.

Fonts and Typography: The Symbol font (rather than the normal text font) must be used for Greek letters and mathematical symbols.

Abbreviations: If abbreviations are used in the text, they must either:

  • be defined at their first occurrence in the text, or
  • be listed in a separate list of abbreviations.

Page Layout and Style

Page Size and Margins: The page size must be B5 portrait (182 mm × 257 mm). All margins must be 2 cm.

Organisation of the Manuscript

The manuscript must contain the following sections: Title; Author(s); Authors’ affiliations; Corresponding author’s email address; Corresponding author’s ORCID®; Abstract; Keywords; Introduction; Materials and Methods; Results and Discussion; Conclusions; Acknowledgements (if any); References.

Title Page

Title: The title should be informative and concise (no more than two lines) and describe the topic of the manuscript in terms understandable to a broad readership. Non-standard acronyms or abbreviations should be avoided. Only the first word of the title should be capitalised.

Authors: Names of all authors, along with their complete mailing and email addresses, must be provided. The corresponding author must be marked with an asterisk (*).

Author Affiliation: Affiliated institutions must be listed directly below the authors’ names. Include department, institution, complete address, and ZIP/postal code. Multiple affiliations should be indicated using superscript Arabic numerals (¹,²,³), each starting on a new line.

Corresponding Author: The corresponding author’s name, complete address, telephone number, and email address must be provided. These details will appear in both print and onlineversions. Otgontenger Journal uses the ORCID® persistent digital identifier to ensure accurate author identification.

Abstract

The abstract should provide a brief, structured, and informative summary of the content and conclusions of the paper. The abstract must not exceed 250 words and should not contain abbreviations or specialised terminology.

Keywords

Authors must provide up to six (6) keywords or phrases that represent the main topics covered in the manuscript.

Introduction

The introduction should provide essential background information necessary to understand the study, written concisely and clearly. A detailed literature review should be avoided; only relevant prior studies forming the basis of the research should be cited.

Experimental

All experimental procedures and characterisation data must be included in this section. The description should be sufficiently detailed to allow other researchers to reproduce the work, with appropriate references. Experimental design and statistical methods must be clearly described. Quantitative methods must be reproducible and supported by proper replicates and statistical analyses. Supplementary Data may be provided if necessary. Structural information must be included for new compounds. Gel or blot quantification must be based on data obtained within a linear exposure range.

Results and Discussion

Results should be presented clearly and concisely, using tables and figures where appropriate. The discussion should focus on interpretation and significance rather than repetition of results. Subsections may be used to improve clarity.

Conclusions

This section should summarise the main findings, explain their significance, and describe how they contribute to advancements in the field.

References

Only published or “in press” works may be included. In-text citations must use the author–year format. All references cited in the abstract must be fully listed in the references section. All references must be written using the Latin alphabet. If the original title is in Russian, Mongolian, Chinese, or another non-Latin language, indicate this by adding (in Russian), (in Mongolian), (in Chinese), etc., after the transliterated title. References must be listed alphabetically and follow the style below:

Ethical Responsibilities of Authors

Otgontenger Journal is committed to maintaining the integrity of the scientific record. Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY NC) license, and Turnitin is used to screen for plagiarism.

Authors must avoid misrepresentation of research results. Such behaviour undermines trust in the journal, the professionalism of scientific authorship, and the scientific enterprise as a whole.

Adherence to good scientific practice includes:

  • Manuscripts must not be submitted to more than one journal simultaneously.
  • Submitted work must be original and unpublished in any language or form, unless it is an expansion of previous work. Transparency regarding reused material is required to avoid self-plagiarism.
  • Use of others’ data, text, or theories must not exceed 30% or 2–3 figures, and reuse of one’s own previously published material must also be limited.

In cases of misconduct, the journal follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Authors may be required to provide raw data, samples, or records to verify results. Confidential or proprietary data are exempt.

If misconduct or fraud is suspected, the journal and/or publisher will investigate in accordance with COPE guidelines. Possible outcomes include:

  • Rejection of manuscripts under review
  • Publication of a correction or erratum
  • Publication of an expression of concern
  • Retraction of the article in severe cases

If authors discover significant errors in their published work, they must promptly notify the editor or publisher and cooperate in issuing a correction or retraction.
