Author Biography

David SG Goodman

David S G GOODMAN is Director of the Institute for International Studies, University of Technology, and Sydney, Australia. His research concentrates on social and political change in China. His most recent publications include (with Richard Robinson) the New Rich in Asia: Mobile Phones, McDonalds and Middle Class Revolution (1996), (with Gerald Segal) China without Deng (1995), (with Fang Chunky) China’s Hainan Province (1995), (with Gerald Segal) China Reconstructs: Politics, Trade and Regionalism (1994), and Deng Xiaoping and the Chinese Revolution (1994). He is currently engaged in research on Shanxi Province, North China.
