Abstract

A pure culture of the entomopathogenic fungus Beauveria tenella was isolated from mushroom tissues. The objective of this study was to evaluate the plant growth-promoting potential of the fungal isolate. The isolate was identified based on ITS region sequencing and  result showing 99% similarity with GenBank reference sequences. B. tenella demonstrated the ability to solubilize phosphate on Pikovskaya’s agar, forming clear halo zones, indicating its potential role in enhancing soil phosphorus availability. The phosphate solubilization index (SI) was calculated to be 2.19 ± 0.05 thereby confirming the solubilizing potential of the isolate. Furthermore, the fungus showed positive results for Indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) production, a key phytohormone involved in plant growth, with concentrations 8.12 μg/mL, measured by spectrophotometry using Salkowski reagent.
